Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCOU) is proud to be the leading multi-disciplinary public university in Vietnam with application-oriented, knowledge and community cohesion. Originally established in 1990, HCMOU has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years seen by the remarkable growth in student’s numbers with 30.000 students, 7 campuses towards the green learning environment for sustainable development in the central of vibrant Ho Chi Minh city, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Khanh Hoa province. The university delivers degrees on campus and e-learning, with a rich academic portfolio covering a wide range of disciplines in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels from 10 faculties, including 31 majors for BA (7 high quality programs), 12 for MA and 5 for Ph.D.

Among 7 campuses of HCMCOU, international students study and research at city campus, located at 97 Vo Van Tan, Ward 6, District 3. District 3 is an urban district, located in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, one of the most prosperous areas in HCMC. It has just reached the top 50 "the most wonderful region in the world" voted by Time Out British magazine. This ranking is based on survey opinions of 27,000 global residents. Along with many other regions in the world, District 3 was honored to be ranked 18th on the list. District 3 with high greenery density is also a very good location, convenient for transportation to other districts in HCMC. It is also home to many famous universities and high schools in HCMC

HCMCOU is proud of among the top 5 universities rewarded by The Ministry of Education and Training, Viet Nam (MOET) with many achievements published in the prestigious international scientific journals.
After 30 years of establishment and development, HCMCOU is one of the leading prestigious public universities in Vietnam for the reputation of improving the training quality constantly, especially the importance to expanding international cooperation and particularly encouraging scientific research activities of lecturers and students.
In the past 2019, the University was honored to be in the top 5 of MOET's scientific research publication posted in the prestigious international magazines.
