The Faculty of Foreign Languages (FFL), which was founded in 1990, is one of the first three faculties at HCM Open University providing “opening learning” and applying new teaching methods to the learners. Its mission is to improve learners’ knowledge and practical skills and to enhance learners’ potential strengths in educational goals. FFL makes a great effort to establish a positively-learning environment and builds a good rapport between learners and lecturers in order for learners to attain the success of language learning and meet the requirements of the society in the new age.
Graduates in English Language major are well-prepared with knowledge and expertise, political and moral qualities, profession and physical health in order to perform efficiently in area of expertise related to English Language using, meet the social requirements on the economic development and international integration process.
Graduates in English Language major are capable of teaching English at high schools, English centers or translation services companies, commercial agencies, hospitality and tourism agencies. Furthermore, graduates are able to excel further in domestic and international English master’s programs.

Theory and Methodology of English Language Teaching (Training program delivered by Ho Chi Minh City Open University)
For Theory and Methodology of English language teaching major, learners are required IELTS certificate (Academic) from 6.5 and above delivered by an Educational Testing Service which is Internationally recognized within 2 years (24 months) up to the registration date.
3. Doctoral Program: Theory and Teaching method of English
- Bachelor degree with excellent grade or Master degree in the right major or other equivalent majors (bachelor degree or master degree issued by the International Educational Institutions must comply with recognition procedures in accordance with applicable regulations) (Appendix 2);
- Be the author of 01 article or report related to the intended research field, printed in science magazines or conference proceedings, specialized science seminars with critics for 03-year (36-month) term up to the registration date of enrollment.
