Law was first taught at Ho Chi Minh city Open University (HCMCOU) in 1993. However, there are several gap years after 3 years of operation due to the State’s policies. In 2009, HCMCOU reopened law education by offering undergraduate courses of commercial law under the administration of the Faculty of economics and law.
Then, Faculty of law, was established on 10 September 2015, now has four departments: Department of Civil Law; Department of Commercial law, Department of Private International Law - International business law and Department of Administrative Law with approximately four hundred on-campus students and five thousand distance-learning students enroll yearly.
The Faculty offers bachelor’s degrees in Economic Laws and Law. Economic Laws Program officially started in 2009 and Law Program started in 2015. Previously, Open University of Ho Chi Minh City began to offer graduate degree in Law in 1993.
To earn a bachelor’s degree in Economic Laws, students have to complete of 126 credits, from required courses in business and commercial laws and elective courses in Corporate Finance, Financial Accounting and International Payments. To deepen training and knowledge, students can select Import and Export Law, Investment Law, Law on Insurance Business, and more.
